Russell Fent, Ph. D.

Russell grew up in rural northeast Oklahoma from a family that was deeply involved in agricultural teaching and production. This allowed him the opportunity to work with livestock, particularly raising and showing pigs and judging livestock during his youth, which laid the foundation for his education and later involvement in the agriculture industry. He was a member of the National Champion FFA Livestock Judging team and judged on successful college teams at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and at Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Fent holds a Bachelor of Science in animal science and Master of Science in swine nutrition from Oklahoma State University and a Ph.D. in swine nutrition from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In graduate school, Russell conducted many research studies in several specific areas of swine nutrition including energy determination of feedstuffs, starter complexity, and utilization of phytase enzymes, available phosphorus and amino acid requirements, and crystalline amino acid use.

At Ralco, Russell formulates swine diets, provides technical support to the sales staff, and is involved with swine research projects and development of new products. He provides nutritional expertise and support to producers of varying sizes in all phases of swine production.
